Michigan Rainbow Dress Code – June 2021

Grand Receptions

Grand Family may travel to and from receptions and attend rehearsals in khaki, navy, or black dress slacks and Grand Family polo shirts or Rainbow t-shirt (no jeans or flip flops). Change in formal before meal.

• Grand Family –  Official dress with dress shoes (see below for description of “dress shoes”).

• Grand Representatives – Bring white dress shoe to wear in case you participate in Initiation.

• Visiting Rainbow Girls – White formal with white dress shoes (no sandals or flip-flops).

• State Officials – Formal for ladies or suit/tux for men.

• Assembly Adults

  • Male – Suit/Tux

  • Female – Dress, dress pants, or skirt and blouse of any color. Straps or blouses or tank tops must be at least 2″ wide. Tights under a dress or skirt are appropriate. Bright or pastel colors are encouraged. No solid black and avoid very dark colors as much as possible.

Business Meeting – Members, Advisors & Visitors

• Females – Dress, dress pants, or skirt and blouse of any color. Straps on blouses or tank tops must be at least 2″ wide. Tights under a dress or skirt are appropriate. Bright or pastel colors are encouraged. No solid black and avoid very dark colors as much as possible. Length of dress or skirt is to be no more 2″ above the knee. Dress shoes or sandals ONLY. NO tennis shoes, flip-flops, clogs or boots (dress or other).

• Males – Dress pants with dress shirt or polo shirt.

Attire that is not appropriate for meetings: Short skirts, tight pants, min-skirts, halter tops, tube tops, belly shirts, spandex shorts or pants, sweats, pajama bottoms, yoga pants.

Assembly Initiation

• Grand Family

  • Grand Officers – Official dress with dress shoes

  • Grand Representatives – Official dress with dress shoes. Bring white formal and white dress shoes.

• Visiting Rainbow Girls – See “Assembly Adults” above. Bring white formal and white dress shoes.

• Candidates – A nice church dress is appropriate. Bright or pastel colors are encouraged. No solid black and avoid very dark colors as much as possible. Length of dress or skirt is to be no more 2″ above the knee. Dress shoes, either heels or flats, must be worn. A white formal is acceptable. A white formal is not required until a girl is installed as an Assembly Officer.

Other Masonic Receptions

• Grand Family – Official dress with dress shoes.

• Assembly Girls or Adults – Dress, skirt and blouse, or formal. No Pants.

Installations

• Installing Officers not being installed and Grand Family – Formal with dress shoes

• Officers being installed – White formal and white dress shoes.

• Visiting Rainbow Girls – See “Grand Receptions – Assembly Adults” above.

Masonic Center – Non-Assembly Room Functions

All in attendance – Slacks or clean jeans (depending on activity); neat shirt or sweater; Rainbow t-shirt only; casual footwear or clean athletic shoes. No flip flops.

Non-Masonic Center Assembly Functions

T-shirts, clean jeans or shorts and casual shoes or flip flops. Shorts are to reach to the tips of your fingers when your arms are at your side and the waistband is at the appropriate position.

Points of Interest

1. Grand Family – means all Grand Family members; not just Rainbow Girls.

2. Dress shoes

   • Closed or toe

   • Must have a back-strap or back. No sandals.

3. No slippers, sandals or flip-flops of any kind may be substituted for dress shoes.

4. Slips and appropriate undergarments must be worn at all times.

5. No inappropriate body parts showing such as: bare midriff, shoulders, low backs or fronts, no slit skirts above the knee.

6. The dress code is subject to the Advisory Board’s discretion.
